Objective of the activity: To familiarize newly admitted students with ACCA Qualification and the ACCA program structure

Summary:

On July 26, 2023, IIS (Deemed to be University) organized a highly informative and interactive session for the newly admitted students of B.com (H) – Applied Accountancy and Finance. The University invited officials from ISDC (International skill Development Corporation) to interact with the aspiring ACCA students.

The speakers of this session were Mr. Vikkas Kumar Khosla (Zonal Head, ISDC Project Private Limited) and Mr. Abhishek Naresh Goyal (Regional Manager – Business Relationships, Rajasthan & MP (ISDC)) who interacted with the students at the IISU campus, shedding light upon the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) course structure, diverse papers, and the abundant job opportunities available worldwide. This session aimed to familiarize the students with the benefits of pursuing the ACCA qualification and how it can shape their future in the finance and accounting industry.

The session started with a brief introduction of ACCA, which is a qualification that has been a globally recognized standard for finance and accounting professionals, offering a comprehensive curriculum and preparing individuals for a successful career in the financial realm. Furthermore, Mr. Vikkas Kumar Khosla explained the ACCA Course structure that is divided into three levels i.e. Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills, and Strategic Professional. He highlighted that out of a total of 13 papers, 6 are exempted for the students of IISU.

In addition to this, the session also discussed about the abundant job opportunities of ACCA in about 180+ countries worldwide and its global recognition enabling accountants to work in various countries and fields such as Financial Accounting, Auditing and Assurance, Consulting and Corporate financial leaders etc. Mr Vikas informed about various recruiters of ACCA students such as Big 4, Grant Thornton, PepsiCo, Accenture, HSBC, etc. Moreover, the session also concentrated on how ACCA collaborates with leading universities globally providing routes for professional and academic qualifications, to complement the ACCA Qualification and help you to specialize in a particular field or to broaden your skills and enhance your employability. The academic partnerships include: Oxford Brookes University, The Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, The Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University, The School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London Etc.

In a nutshell, the interactive session held on 26 July 2023 has proven to be an enriching and insightful experience for all participants. Throughout the session, valuable discussions were facilitated, and diverse perspectives were shared, leading to a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It also has inspired participants to approach their academic and professional journeys with renewed enthusiasm and a commitment to continual improvement.
