Objective: 

The objective of the course is to provide an understanding of basic concepts, principles and practices of management and inculcate the ability to apply multifunctional approach to organizational objective.

Management an Overview- Definition, Functions, Process, Scope and Significance of Management, Managerial Roles, Managerial Skills and Activities, Social responsibilities of Business, System and Contingency Approach for understanding organizations, Management Thought-Classical Perspective - Scientific Management, Administrative Management, Bureaucratic Management, Behavioral Perspective.

Fundamentals of Planning
Planning - Objectives, Strategies, Policies, Decision making.MBO, MBE

Fundamentals of Organizing and Staffing
Organizing - Nature and purpose, departmentalisation, Span of Management, line and staff authority, centralization and decentralization.
Staffing – Selection Process, Techniques, Managerial Effectiveness.

Directing –
Effective Directing, Supervision, Leadership- Concept, Styles and Theories- Trait Theory, Behavioral Theories, Contingency Theories. Communication Process, Channels and Barriers, Effective Communication.

Controlling and Coordinating
Control- Concept, Nature and Purpose, Control technique, control of overall performance.
Coordination- Concept, Importance, Principles and Techniques of Coordination.
