Development of Human Behaviour:
Growth and development; Principles of development, Role of genetic and environmental factors in determining human behaviour; Influence of cultural factors in socialization; Life span development - Characteristics, development tasks, promoting psychological well-being across major stages of the life span.

Attitudes, Values and Interests:
Definition of attitudes, values and interests; Components of attitudes; Formation and maintenance of attitudes; Measurement of attitudes, values and interests.

Unit III: 

Theories of attitude change; Strategies for fostering values; Formation of stereotypes and prejudices; Changing others behaviour; Theories of attribution; Recent trends.

Unit IV: 

Emergence and Growth of Counseling Services; Approaches to Counselling; Counselling process-Beginning, Developing and terminating a counseling relationship and follow up. Counselor’s Attitude and Skills of Counselling; Assessing Clients Problems.

Selecting Counselling Strategies and Interventions-Changing Behaviour through Counselling Special Problems in Counselling; Application of Counseling to Organizational situations with a focus on performance Counselling.

 

*A minimum of one case study will be discussed per unit of the syllabi.
